Audi Dealership Serving Bartlett, TN

There is no place in the United States quite like Tennessee. Our country charm, deep love of music, and Southern hospitality is unmatched. The small town of Bartlett, Tennessee is a gem of a town located just east of Memphis; we at Gossett Audi are proud to be able to serve the Bartlett community. Read below for an overview of some of our favorite things about the city of Bartlett, including history and attractions!

Bartlett’s early history dates back to 1830 when the area was known as Union Depot or Green Bottom. The Bartlett area was the last major station stop in Tennessee along stagecoach routes that were heading westward. When the Memphis & Ohio Railroad came into being, the region continued to function as a depot. During this time, the community was mostly rural with many families operating large farms and plantations.

In 1866, the city was officially incorporated with a population of less than 100. Upon its incorporation, the town was renamed Bartlett, after Major Gabriel M. Bartlett who was a farmer and lived where the Bartlett Station Plaza sits today.

Things to Do

Today, Bartlett embraces its historical roots; residents and visitors can learn everything there is to know about the town’s history by visiting the Bartlett Historical Society operating out of the Nicholas Gotten House located at 2969 Court Street. The museum is free and open to the public every first and third Sunday of the month.

Blackwell House

Another historical location in Bartlett is the Blackwell House. This house is rumored to be haunted by its original owner and builder, Nicholas Blackwell, who was Bartlett’s second mayor and passed away in 1910. Many people have seen lights on in the house even when no one is inside.

If you’re looking for outdoor fun, Barlett has a large and thriving park district. There are public parks in nearly every part of the city, including the Blue Lagoon, Ellendale Park, and Bartlett Recreation Center. Take in the beautiful landscapes at any of these wonderful outdoor areas!
